ESP – Episode 21. Extra-Sensory Perception. The five physical senses and our spiritual sense. The series finale.
Over the last twenty blogs, we looked at how good and evil reside in both the physical realm and the spiritual realm and how we must be aware of this and be prepared for what we face in this world.
We must find balance through the strength of Christ to fight spiritual battles in this physical realm.
Although some people have a gift of spiritual discernment, everyone must develop, through God’s word and the Holy Spirit, an ability to discern truth from error.
Failing to deal seriously with sin, lack of faith in the promises of God and not renouncing any counterfeit spiritual practices just invites the bondage of Satan in our lives.
Spiritual warfare is real and as Christians we should not be surprised by it but expect it. The battle is often in our minds but we have the promises of God to hang on to. We must spend time in prayer and study to know these promises.
Although spiritual battles are not fun, we must remember that Satan is already defeated. Our response to spiritual battles is the worship of our Almighty God.
Hollywood makes millions of dollars on Sci-Fi movies and shows but there is nothing new under the sun. The bible actions, and hold them up against God’s word. is full of amazing stories that far surpass the special effects and story lines of anything man can think up.
We cannot become desensitized to the things of evil just because we see them splashed across the screen in the form of entertainment. There is evil in this world and it is attacking the things of God.
There are indicators of an evil heart and we must be on alert. Although we would love to see evil wiped out right now, we must praise God for His grace and mercy and for His patience so that souls can be saved for eternity. There is so much in this world and so many people that embrace evil things, how can we know when we are deceived??
How we “be in this world, and not of it”? We must continually examine our thoughts, beliefs, decisions and
We took a brief look at angels, the misconceptions, the differences between the good ones and the evil ones – Satan deceives us as an “angel of light”.
We looked at biblical numerology and the wonders of God’s creation.
We looked at scriptural glimpses into the spiritual realm and how we can experience our own God moments.
We focused on how God created us as three-part beings with a body, soul and spirit. Our spirit is only alive if we have accepted Jesus as our Savior.
Our body, soul, and spirit is controlled either by the Spirit of God or the spirit of disobedience.
Our body, soul and spirit are directly connected to each other. Often a physical illness is related to issues within our soul and/or spiritual issues.
We often try to treat or medicate physical issues when we could and should at least handle some of the battle in the spiritual realm.
Many physical ailments can be traced back to handling stress poorly. God has a better way to handle stress.
We are to take care of our physical bodies but we will experience stress and physical ailments sometimes no matter how healthy we try to be.
That’s the ESP series recap. I don’t think I made any secret of the fact that I am in the middle of dealing with some personal trials. I am not looking for sympathy or commiseration and I am not going to pretend I have it all together. It has been extremely difficult at times. I have tried to live out and then to share with you what God has taught and is teaching me through His word, sermons, prayers and bible study. I have prayed that my blogs not reveal the nature of the situation but rather be a way to proclaim the truths of God, His goodness and His faithfulness. One thing is for certain. As I looked through the past 20 blogs, the dates and the topics, I can see God’s hand in everything. Teaching me, testing me, and loving me. Sending me confirmations and comfort. Being the God of the universe and the God of my life. Never-changing and always true.
Thank you for being a part of this spiritual journey with me. Although this is ESP Episode 21 – The Finale, my journey continues and so will the weekly Thirsty Thursday blogs. I pray I can be a small part in your journey, whatever it may be, and that you are thirsty for more of the living water, Jesus Christ.
That’s a wrap.
